ABOUT US

JoŽlle Perrier is a versatile musician and a seasoned teacher. She is a cellist first and foremost, but also plays piano (and other keyboard instruments), soprano and alto recorders, diatonic flute, clarinet, guitar, ukulele and she sings. As a cellist, JoŽlle will be starting her 7th season with Divertimento Orchestra. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education (Primary, Junior and Intermediate) with a specialisation in music from the University of Ottawa. JoŽlle was privileged to study under Gilles Comeau, a music education expert. She has attended Ontario Music Educators Association conferences and has received one-on-one training in the Making Music Meaningful curriculum by its founder, Nicole Wassink.

JoŽlle looks forward to meeting you and your child and to sharing with you the joy of music!

HISTORY OF THE PROGRAM

Nicole Wassink founded Making Music Meaningful in 2006. She holds a Bachelor of Education (Elementary) and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada. She received her training as an early childhood music educator at the Royal Conservatory of Music. Nicoleís love of music was nurtured by guitar and voice lessons as a child and teenager. She started playing the flute in her teens and learned to play the recorder and the ukulele during her university studies. She also taught an elementary school choir for 5 years.

Nicole operated Making Music Meaningful from 2006 to 2016. Following a foot injury, she hired a few contractors to replace her on a sessional basis and suspended classes for a while before officially passing the torch to JoŽlle Perrier in 2017. Nicole currently serves as coach and mentor to JoŽlle.
